It is easy to go through life acting like a victim whenever bad things come our way. The car breaks down, the kids get sick, money is tight, the roof starts leaking, and an appliance blows up. Deeper than this, each of us lives with pain from our past, things that we regret and cannot undo, situations outside of our control, physical abuse, sexual abuse, a disease, a disorder, depression, or even crimes committed against us. It’s easy to get frustrated and depressed thinking “when am I going to catch a break?”.
What you have gone through may have caused you to be depressed, discouraged, or disappointed but the reality is we have the power to choose our response to whatever comes our way. In simple terms we are responsible (response - able). This simple concept is the basis for making the powerful declaration “I Am No Victim”.
Over the next few weeks we will follow the story of four characters in Scripture who decided to respond to problems not as victims but as victors. Characters who chose to see their response as their responsibility and who trusted in the sovereignty of God over their problem and pain.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
